I was on my way to work when I witnessed something remarkable.
A mother was walking with her daughter.
They passed by a homeless man seated on the sidewalk.
He was holding out a cup, hoping for some change.
The girl said, “Mommy, look at that scary man! He’s so dirty and gross!”
The man glanced up. He only help his head up for a moment before returning his gaze to the ground.
The mother stopped in her tracks and leaned down so she was at eye level with daughter
“Don’t you ever say anything like that? You don’t know what that man has been through. Maybe he was a daddy to a little girl just like you? Bad luck can happen to anyone. That’s why it’s important to be kind to everyone you see.”
The woman pulled out a dollar bill.
She handed it to the girl and asked, “Do you understand?”
The little girl nodded her head.
Then without being asked, she went back to the homeless man.
She placed the dollar in his cup.
“I’m sorry for what I said. I hope things start going better for you.”
The man looked up at her.
The little girl smiled at him before skipping back to her mother.
It’s heart warming to know this women is raising her little girl to be so kind.
She will truly make the world a better place!
