Amazing Tips To Get Grease Smell Out of Clothes

1. A Can of Coke

An unlikely candidate to get oil out of clothes is Coke. Pour an ordinary can of Coca-Cola into the wash water with your clothes and regular detergent and launder as usual.

The acidic nature of the Coke gets to work removing grease particles and lifting stains to help your clothes smell better. It’s safe for the environment, humans, and pets, and it won’t stain your clothes. Give it a try – you may be surprised at the positive results.

2. White Vinegar and Baking Soda Bath

Here is a highly recommended tip that utilizes the acidic nature of white vinegar combined with the odor-absorbing power of baking soda to lift stains and eliminate smells.

You need:  1 cup white vinegar – 1 cup baking soda

For washing clothes without detergent, the easiest method is to mix one cup of white vinegar and one cup of baking soda in a pail or plastic tub. Add in your foul-smelling clothes with just enough water to cover them and stir them well for about 30 seconds. Let the solution soak for at least four hours, then dump everything into the washing machine and wash and dry as usual. Your clothes will be clean and fresh.

3. Laundry Detergent

The easiest place to start is by trying a heavy-duty laundry detergent. Heavy-duty laundry detergents are specially formulated to remove impossible grease and oil stains. These products often contain additional provisions like enzymes to remove grease from fabric.

4. Special Dish Washing

Wash them in solution of 1/4 cup of Dawn dish washing detergent, 1 cup of lemon scented ammonia and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide in the hottest water your clothing article will allow.

Fill your washer before adding clothes. Add the articles of clothing, but don’t overload. You want to give the solution a chance to work its way into the clothing, aprons, towels, etc. Let the articles sit in the machine full of hot water and solution for approximately 20 minutes then start your machine as usual. Do not add fabric softener because, after you have run the entire wash cycle, you are going to wash your items in your regular laundry detergent and add your softener.

5. Distilled White Vinegar

Use 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle to help reduce odors in your fabrics. White vinegar is slightly acidic and can help remove any lingering grease particles that your laundry soap left behind in the wash cycle.

6. Oxyclean and Oxypure

In a pail or tub of dirty clothes, mix a scoop of Oxyclean or Oxypure with enough cold water to cover the clothes. Stir well and let soak for at least four hours. Dump the bucket into the washing machine and launder as usual.

These products know how to get oil smell out of clothes because they contain sodium percarbonate, which releases hydrogen peroxide when it contacts water.

7. Throw Clothes in the Dryer With a Satchel

To quickly refresh/deodorize your clothes and ban odor, toss dryer-safe bedding or clothing in the dryer with a few sheets of fabric softener or natural lavender satchels—the heat will infuse the clothing with a fresh scent.
